Student/Learner Admission & FIATA Minimum Standards 

 

In order for a student/learner to be considered eligible for admittance to the FIATA 2025 programme, the potential students, are required, to have at least completed the SAQA NQF 3 NC: Freight Forwarding & Customs Compliance - (Advanced Learnership – 174 credits), and the NQF 4 FETC: Freight Forwarding & Customs Compliance (Advanced Learnership – 178 credits), or similar equivalent qualifications such as the NQf 5 Clearing and forwarding agent.  

 

They should also provide details of all other qualifications attained for the purposes of evaluation and admittance. In conjunction with SAAFF Guidelines, applicants must also have at least 4 to 10 years working experience in the Freight Forwarding Industry or International Trade and Supply Chain Sectors. GMLS will require a detailed CV from each applicant and will assess same in conjunction with the criteria of the minimum standards and the workplace experience demonstrated by the applicant/student. 

 

NB!! Please note that prospective students, who do not have the SAQA NQF or other qualifications mentioned above, however, who have, been in the Industry for many, many years, may still be awarded those Qualifications (NQF 3, NQF 4 and NQF 5), via a process called “RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING” (RPL). GMLS is an accredited RPL assessor. GMLS will provides a RPL offer for this FIATA 2025 programme. This will be reflected and can been seen on the pricing structure and fees page.. 

 
The learner will be required to complete the Pre Assessment Questionnaire (During the registration period), which reflects the minimum FIATA standards within the 14 traditional modules as prescribed by FIATA the global organization.
 
The FIATA Diploma is a Global Qualification, and will be recognised by all international Freight Forwarders globally. GMLS is also in the process of attaining the SAQA recognition for the FIATA Diploma
