ABOUT THE GLOBAL FIATA DIPLOMA

The Global Qualification is suitable for ALL global trade Supply chain and regulatory specialists.

According to FIATA HQ in Zurich Switzerland, who represent globally the collective of customs brokers and freight forwarders, a Global Trader, Freight Forwarder and customs compliance specialist is known an “Architect of Transport”. This Qualification will teach Students to manage and control ALL the fundamental aspects and compliance criteria that have an impact on Global Trade, Compliance, and Successful release and delivery of shipments. 

The International FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding & Customs Compliance consists of 14 Modules which include all key module scope topics, such as various modes of international transport, multimodal transport, air transport, customs compliance procedures, safety and security, and information and communication Technologies in global trade and much more. The FIATA Diploma can be adopted as a National Qualification through the local qualification authority (NQA) and is suitable not only for private sector stakeholders, but also for customs administrations, with their new role of trade facilitation and modernisation. Such authorities will thus have significant trader insights and capacity for purposes of control, regulation, administration and audit.

The Course will commence with an introduction to the scope of International Trade, and will provide Students with a high-level overview of the key areas that they should comprehend and understand, when performing their respective duties at global standards and trade. African Students will be in a position to conduct global trade on a Par with International Standards.

FIATA has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, (inter alia ECE, ESCAP, ESCWA), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the UN Commission on International Trade Law, (UNCITRAL).

Furthermore, FIATA is recognised as the Global Representative of the Customs Broker & Freight Forwarding Industry through its association with several other governmental organisations, governmental authorities, and private International organisations in the field of Transport, such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Union of Railways (UIC), the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the World Customs Organisation (WCO), the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the like.

 

FIATA's MAIN OBJECTIVES ARE: 

  • to unite the Customs Compliance & Freight Forwarding specialists worldwide.
  • to become Globally Competetive and Competent.
  • to represent, promote, and protect the interests of this community, by participating as Advisors or Experts in collaboration with International Bodies, dealing with Transportation, Customs Compliance and trade facilitation.
  • to familiarise Trade and Industry and the public at large, with the services rendered by Customs compliance specialists, Freight Forwarders, through the dissemination of information, distribution of publications, etc.
  • to improve the quality of services rendered by Customs compliance specialists and Freight Forwarders by developing and promoting uniform Forwarding Documents, Standard Trading Conditions, etc.
  • to assist with vocational training for all key stakeholders in the global supply chain, resolve marine insurance liability problems, develop tools  for Electronic Commerce, including Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), and Barcoding.
